MVP in Life

What makes an Identity Management Professional?

To me the most successful Identity Management Professionals are able to bring Database skills, Programming skills and System Administration skills, because we access databases and use them, we customize the software with programming, and we often setup the services and administer them.

For example before I started in Identity, I was an MCSE (shows system admin skills), MSCD (programming skills), MCDBA (database skills). Today, I was reviewing BYU Idaho’s online programs, and I could see people who do these four certificates as ready to launch and learn a variety of Identity Management tools.

  1. Computer Support

  2. System Administration (Computer Support is a pre-req)

  3. Database

  4. Computer Programming

While the curriculum is a little light on Microsoft Technology the concepts are solid. I like it!
